I had a big lump

in my throat by the time I finished reading Rand Simberg's essay, "Useful Idiots".

No sooner did I open my mouth

about Tom Delay than I ran across this, a moving speech delivered to the Knesset. I didn't know he had it in him.

Texas Dimocratic Senators

are loosing their shirts in the latest escape debacle. A special session costs Texas taxpayers a lot of money--something on the order of 1.7 million dollars. And this is the second time. A lot of people are blaming Governor Perry and Congressman Tom Delay (neither of whom I particularly like) for the whole thing. I predict a major backlash against the Dimocrats come next elections.

The question is

WHY?

One of my heroes

has died. Bob Hope was an entertainment icon and did more than any other Hollywood type in history for the U.S. armed forces. Last April I wrote about him in this post. He was so loved by the military that he was the only person in history to be made an "honorary GI". We will miss him.
