I thought Today Would Be

A quiet runup to New Years Eve. Instead I spent it nailing plastic sheets on my mother's roof after a tornado took half of the shingles and deposited them in the next county. No major damage to the structure of the house but at least half the trees on her property were damaged or completely flattened. I counted at least fifteen large oaks (trunk diameter 30 to 40 inches) and many smaller trees on the ground now fit for nothing but firewood. Her next door neighbor's carport was laying across the fence and in her south pasture with parts of it scattered over about 20 acres. Happy New Year, Mom.
